STATEMENT FROM THE JAMAICA COLLEGE PARENT TEACHERS ASSOCIATION

For Immediate Release — April 14, 2026

Kingston, 14 April 2026 — The Jamaica College Parent Teachers Association (PTA) today moved to correct recent media and social media narratives that have portrayed the institution as beset by gang activity and systemic disorder, stating unequivocally that such claims are unsupported by evidence and inconsistent with the lived reality of the school community. Drawing on its direct engagement with parents, students, and school leadership, the PTA affirmed that Jamaica College remains a structured, well-managed, and high-performing institution, where isolated incidents are addressed through established protocols and where a culture of discipline, mentorship, and achievement continues to define the student experience.

"The Association wishes to state clearly that, based on its own engagement with parents, students, and the wider school community, it has found no evidence to support claims of pervasive gang culture or systemic bullying at Jamaica College. The PTA takes its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of its children very seriously and would be among the first to raise concern and demand accountability if such conditions existed."
