Under the patronage of Ambassador Her Excellency Audrey Marks, Jamaica's representative to the United States, the Jamaica College Old Boys Association of New York, presents the 2017 Griffin Awards on 08 April 2017 at the SVA Theatre in New York City.

The program also highlights Jamaican culture with a screening marking the 45th anniversary of our most celebrated film, The Harder They Come. Two of our alumni instrumental in the film will also be honoured. Namely Perry Henzell (posthumously) and Winston Stona. We will also be honouring: Senator the Honourable Ruel Reid, Jamaica’s Minister of Education, Youth & Information with the ‘Man of The Decade in Education Award’ and and Business Executive Andrew Ewen with the 'Technology Innovation Award'. The Master of Ceremonies will be Dermot Hussey, the legendary broadcaster, musicologist and current host of the Joint on SiriusXM.

The event will also launch two new robotics initiatives for Jamaican schools. The FIRST Global Robotics Championships in the USA July 2017 and the Jamaica National Robotics Champs slated for early 2018
